Smartcool Systems Inc. has been completed testing on a refrigerated trailer and achieved considerable fuel savings. The Vancouver-based company says that truck operators would save between four and six gallons per day (between 20 and 30 litres) depending on set point and outside air. This equals to 17% to 25% of the fuel consumed for refrigeration.

Electric utilities struggling to reduce peak load are increasingly turning to behavioural science as a way to reinvigorate their conversation efforts. Two Ontario local distribution companies (LDCs) – Horizon Utilities and Milton Hydro – are doing just that. They are working with Simple Energy, a Boulder CO-based company that leverages behavioural science, big data, incentives and digital marketing to encourage utility customers to reduce their demand.

The successes for Smartcool Systems Inc. just keep piling up. The Vancouver-based firm just announced that its energy efficiency technology has been installed in 20 automobile dealerships in the United States and that its already providing significant benefits.

Thermal Energy International Inc. has secured an order of $415,000 with a packaged foods company to install a FLU-ACE heat recovery system. Delivery, installation and revenue from the sale is expected to earned within the next six months.

Eco-Shift Power Corp.’s US subsidiary Sun & Sun Industries Inc. has been tapped by Ameresco to deploy more than 4,500 energy efficient lighting fixtures and control products for the Lynwood Unified School District (USD).
