Energy management and lighting firm Eco-Shift Power is expanding the reach of its products and services to the California market. The Cambridge ON firm opened the office in Los Angeles this week and builds on the company’s recent acquisition of E-Shift Scientific Inc.
Enabling neighbours to compare their respective energy consumption can lead to major reductions in overall use, according to a data from Opower. The company says this already works and its Home Energy Reports have collectively reduced electricity consumption by 4.5 TWh or enough to power the entire province of Saskatchewan for nearly 16 months.
Despite the well known benefits of energy efficiency in the business sector – reduced energy consumption and operating costs – many Canadian business remain reluctant to spend the money upfront to do efficiency upgrades, according to a recently released study from the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA).
A pilot project between smart meter data analytics firm Ecotagious and Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc. has shown that average households in the Northwestern Ontario city can reduce electricity consumption by 3% during the winter months. The savings across all of Ontario could be big, says Vancouver-based Ecotagious.
