A 6.4 kW Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingle system in Oakville ON becomes the first of its kind in the province. The system was installed by Canadian Energy, the exclusive distributor of the Powerhouse solar shingle in Canada.
The federal Conservatives are expanding their commitment to help some of the world’s poorest countries deal with climate change and climate adaptation. Announced by Minister of the Environment Leona Aglukkaq, the federal government says it will provide $300 million to the Green Climate Fund.
Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP is planning to pay approximately US$935 million for a portfolio of renewable energy projects in Brazil. Currently owned by Energisa SA, the portfolio consists of 163 MW hydro, 150 MW wind and 175 MW biomass. A 55 MW biomass plant expansion is also part of the deal.
Cleantech startups looking for some risk capital now have access to more venture funding after Kensington Capital Partners closed on a $160 million fund. The Kensington Venture Fund, launched as part of the federal government’s Venture Capital Action Plan (VCAP), will invest in other areas including technology, IT, telecommunications, and digital media.
