Pattern Energy Group LP has inked an agreement with the Henvey Inlet First Nation to develop, own and operate a 300 MW wind energy project in Ontario. The Henvey Inlet Wind Project will be built in Parry Sound District, near Georgian Bay. Construction and long-term debt financing for Henvey Inlet will be arranged in 2016 by Pattern.

Gerry Skinner, president of Newfound Energies, has a grand plan: get 18 diesel-only communities in Newfoundland and Labrador off the fossil fuel. But first he needs to convince the provincial government that it’s doable and economically viable. This is where CellCube energy storage technology, combined with wind and solar energy come into play.

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) garnered considerable media attention when it decided a couple of weeks ago to divest of its fossil fuel assets. But it’s really only a first step in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies Corp. (EHT) is buying up to 46 MW of rooftop solar projects in Ontario from Reliant First Nation LP. The acquisition price was not disclosed, but the Toronto-based company says it will cost approximately $150 million to deploy the 176 solar energy systems. They will be located at various schools throughout the province.

ZBB Energy Corp. is making it easier for utilities and electricity grid operators to improve the quality of the power at the edges of their networks and in areas where there are high penetration levels of solar energy and plug-in electric vehicles.
