Vancouver-based Smartcool Systems Inc. has teamed up to provide energy efficiency for Wates Group’s multiple client sites, the company announced earlier this week.

This direct partnership between Smartcool and Wates will quickly enable both to deliver significant energy reduction programs into existing Wates clients. Smartcool's ability to deliver quick energy solutions that can be scaled across multiple sites with ease, also fits with Wates customer support to identify, select and implement cost-effective technologies that lower carbon emissions, improve building performance and reduce operational costs.

"This is a significant step forward for Smartcool and indeed Wates, I'm delighted to be able to partner with the Wates Group in the development of projects that will result in more energy efficient buildings and an on-going program to support energy and sustainability reductions, this will significantly help to reduce carbon emissions,” said Nick Weedon, Smartcool's National Sales Manager responsible for the Wates Group partnership.

The Smartcool technology was evaluated over a number of months and was found to be one of the highest rated solutions technologies. A frame work agreement has now been agreed by a Wates panel, who make up their Sustainable Technology Group.

"The framework's positive impact has been wide-ranging. It meets our customers demands for sustainability and innovation whilst providing a strong route to market for suppliers. Positioning Wates as a pragmatic leader and innovation broker in the construction industry,” said Zainab Dangana, Sustainability R&D Manager at The Wates Group Smartspace.
