Ontario homeowners have a new smarter tool that can monitor their water use and warn them in case there are leaks or floods. The product Eddy IQ is from Eddy Home.
Ford Motor Company is aiming to reduce by nearly three-quarters its use of potable water in vehicle manufacturing by 2020. The company says this translates into a reduction from 4 litres in 2000 to 1 litre in 2020.
Technologies that help address water scarcity will now be part eligible to win money from the XPrize. Zenia Tata, executive director of global expansion at XPrize made the announcement on October 24 at a United Nations reception in New Delhi, India.
H2O Innovation Inc. has won three new wastewater treatment contracts in Canada. Two are located in Alberta and one in Quebec that also incorporates a five-year operation and maintenance contract. Combined the contracts have a value of $6.4 million.
The government of Ontario is taking steps to protect the province’s water resources in the face of a changing climate and increased populations by proposing to implement a two-year moratorium on new or expanded water takings from groundwater by bottling companies. There will also be stricter rules for the renewal of existing permits.
