CO2 Solutions Inc. is shifting the focus of its scientific advisory board away from the development of its enzymatic carbon capture technology to commercial applications, the Quebec City-based company announced last week.

CO2 Solutions Inc. is one step closer to securing another US patent. The US Patent Office has informed the Quebec City-based company of a notice of allowance for a patent titled, Process for CO2 Capture Using Micro-Particles Comprising Biocatalysts.

Jean-Michel Gires, venture partner at Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, describes innovative carbon capture technology from Inventys Inc. as potentially being “a major breakthrough.” This “is what made it very attractive for us,” he tells Canadian Green Tech in an interview referring to the VC’s recent investment in the Burnaby BC-based company.

CO2 Solutions Inc. has had a very positive last number of days. First the Quebec City-based company announced that its technology had achieved a big milestone in technical performance and then unveiled its partner for a 15 tonne per day carbon capture demonstration facility.

Landfills the necessary evil for all municipalities. But they no longer need to be seen as a money pit or an eyesore with the emergence of aerobic digestion technology from companies such as SALT Canada Inc. The company can cost-effectively return a landfill to its previous “natural” state in less than five years, while also nearly eliminating methane emissions.
